Ashwan

ASHWAN studied fine arts in the UK and the USA at the The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He has been living and working in Barcelona since 2009. He describes his art as a visual Tao of the boom-bap-sounds. The artist creates objects: figurative, solid and with a strong presence. The oftentimes uses discarded cardboard for his mixed media pieces and transforms them into large-format works, ultimately encasing them in resin. His art takes the beholder back to a time, where cities and urban live was stricken by a continuously growing social gap, leading to an explosion in color, i.e. the graffiti-sprayed parts of the Bronx from the 1970s, being left untouched for decades, as well as the destroyed Berlin wall.
