Horst Antes (*1936 in Heppenheim an der Bergstraße) belonged to the first generation of younger painters to leave Informel and Tachism of the 1950s behind and develop a new figurative pictorial language. The invention of the “cephalopod” became a distinguishing mark for Antes’ art.
