NATURA MORTA

Since its first attempts 400 years ago, still life has never been more present than today. In fact, the images have become so ubiquitous that we hardly notice them anymore.
Photos of crunchy vegetables in the supermarket, the advertising brochure for the new Ford with the strange snout, a pack of cigarettes on a dark background. These are images that meanwhile hardly delve deeper than the periphery of our perception.

In this world where everything that can be depicted has already been depicted, where the desire for variety dictates the style, where is there still room for an art of the still, the quiet? Four artists have asked themselves the same question – with results that could not be more different.
